The next stage is the interview procedure. This allows both FZY an opportunity to assess the suitability and motivation of the chanich/a, and a chance for the chanich/a and their parents to quiz FZY on anything relating to Year Course. You can discuss at your interview any specific question relating to the programme for the coming year.
A candidate for FZY Year Course is required to be:
- Enthusiastic about spending a year volunteering, studying and experiencing Israel, Israeli Society and Judaism.
- A person who can demonstrate a responsible attitude towards all other chanichim.
- A person who accepts that he/she has an obligation after Year Course to work within FZY or the British Jewish Community furthering and strengthening the Jewish people and Israel.

All applications are made to FZY Year Course and through various procedures, involving completion of application forms, interviews and the compulsory orientation, each candidate (if selected) is accepted as a chanich/a and allocated to the appropriate section where they will start their year. In addition to the standard application forms, which include medical and dental information, candidates are also required to write a brief autobiography. All application forms are treated as confidential documents.
