Year Course Business offers hands-on experience in one of the most competitive, exciting and demanding subjects. Chanichim will meet leading Hi-Tech industry professionals and get the opportunity to work side by side, as an intern, with the biggest brains of the Israeli business world. Complementing the studies there will be travel to China and India to complete the understanding of how a global business operates.

Overall Programme and Goals

The Year Course Business Track is an addition to the traditional Year Course programme, offering Community Volunteering, Jerusalem Studies, and the Israeli Experience sections. Each component features extended opportunities for volunteering, learning, and cultural enrichment.
Year Course Business offers an intensive educational programme as well as a hands-on experience in one of the most competitive, exciting and demanding subjects. Chanichim will meet leading Hi-Tech industry professionals and get the opportunity to work side by side, as an intern, with the biggest brains of the Israeli business world, to gain precious work experience.
In this intensive programme chanichim will learn basic courses offered to students in business schools. Complementing the studies there will be travel to China and India to complete the understanding of how a global business operates. In addition, chanichim will enjoy the unique opportunity to intern at well known companies and corporations as part of their year.
No prior experience is needed in order to be a participant in this programme, only the passion for business and the will to work hard and challenge themselves.
No special Hebrew level is required.
Community Volunteering (September – November)
Living in Community Volunteering chanichim will go through the regular Community Volunteering programme and chanichim should refer to the relevant pages on the website. During this first semester in Israel, chanichim will also have an intensive training programme designed to introduce the Business world. Chanichim will have field trips to view first-hand Israeli centres of business such as: the Intel Research Centre, Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, and the Israel Diamond Exchange. Twice a week chanichim will take mini-courses and workshops that are similar to courses taken by first year business school students. These include:
- Foundations of Business Management - Exploration of the foundations of modern management, including how external and internal environmental factors impact the practice of business management.
- Business Communication - Effective strategies for business communication, including formats used for various types of business writing.
- Managerial Economics - Focus is on understanding and applying basic yet powerful economic tools of analysis for managers to use in designing organisations
During this portion of the programme chanichim will travel to China, for a 10 days business trip, visiting international companies based in Shanghai, China’s leading business city. Chanichim will also get to travel to Beijing, familiarise themselves with the Chinese–Jewish community, meet its leaders and learn about some unique Israeli-Chinese collaborations.
In addition, chanichim will get to see some of the country’s famous sites, like the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the newly built Olympic stadium.
Jerusalem Studies (December – February)
The Jerusalem Studies programme will be will be the similar to the programme for the rest of Year Course, however in addition there will be two other courses for this track:
- Jewish Business Ethics (a text-based course)
- Introduction to Business (an introduction to the structure and practice of business today).
In addition to regular courses, there will be informal education opportunities for the Business track participants in a weekly group meeting/tour to special places, these may include:
- Visiting leading hi-tech development centres, production lines and headquarters.
- A guest lecturer featuring an entrepreneur that can broaden ones horizon with examples of ordinary people that have “made it” and transformed their ideas into a successful business.
Israel Experience (March – May)
For the Israel Experience portion of the programme chanichim will have a choice: all options are open to choose from – whether it is MADA or Marva, Kibbutz or a youth Village. Recognising the unique abilities and knowledge gained by the business track participants, Year Course will provide the option of a regular Israel Experience or a business related internship. Year Course will set up the internships with leading, international companies in Israel, for those who will pass the programmes requirements for the internship. The participants that are chosen will have to be accepted by the company based on their capabilities.
During this portion of the programme chanichim will travel to India, for a 10 day trip, visiting international companies based in Bangalore, India’s Silicon Valley. Chanichim will get to know the local Indian-Jewish community, and meet local business students.
In addition, there will be the opportunity to travel to the country’s most famous sites, like the Taj Mahal, Lotus temple and to take a Rickshaw ride through New Delhi.
