The Israeli Experience component offers Shalem participants the intense and unique volunteer experience of their choosing. During this three-month component, accommodations vary according to placement. For some options, living conditions are similar to those during Community Volunteering, where participants receive a stipend, cooking utensils, and are responsible for providing their own meals. In other options, meals are provided and housing is communal (Kibbutz, Marva, and Youth Aliyah village are examples). Placements are located throughout the country and are subject to the availability of work at particular sites.

Safari - Clean, feed, and care for the animals at The Zoological Center Tel Aviv – Ramat Gan, an African animal park.

Ilan Spivak Israel Sport Center for the Disabled - assist the faculty at this unique center that specializes in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of Israeli children and youth, and encourages disabled kids, youth and adults to take part in sports.

Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu - experience true religious zionist life on a dati kibbutz, living like a “chalutz” and working the land!

Tirat Hayeled – Children’s Home - bring hope to children experiencing economic, psychological, neglect, and other issues.
