Overall Programme and Goals
- To experience Fashion Design in a hands on way, gaining the tools to enable chanichim to transform their vision into reality and create a garment from beginning to end.
- To explore the broad spectrum of the professional design field in Israel – from young and upcoming fresh designers to the top end famous ones.
- Learn what it takes to become a fashion designer and to succeed in the field.
- To meet Israel’s bubbling and creative fashion industry.
The Year Course Fashion Design Track is an addition to the traditional Year Course programme, offering Community Volunteering, Jerusalem Studies, and the Israeli Experience sections. Each component features extended opportunities for volunteering, learning, and cultural enrichment.
YC Fashion Design offers an intensive educational programme and hands-on experience in one of the most competitive, exciting and innovative areas. Chanichim will meet leading fashion industry professionals who designed and influence what people will wear tomorrow, as well as working side by side with up and coming young Israeli designers to learn how to cope in the real world.
After completing an intensive first semester, learning all the basic courses that a first year student in design school would learn, chanichim will start working on their own project mentored by professional designers sharing ideas and guiding. The whole programme will be lead towards the final project, to be presented in a public fashion show at the end of the year.
No prior experience is needed in order to be a participant in this programme, only the desire for fashion and the creative hands to fulfil the mind’s imagination! This programme is appropriate for chanichim who are willing to work hard and want to challenge themselves on the path to a creative career in the fashion industry.
No special Hebrew level is required.
